23 more weeks

This week I am 17 weeks and I can really tell that my stomach has gotten bigger. I'm very much a stomach sleeper and I remember last time that that was one of the hardest things about being pregnant with Sara was not being able to sleep on my stomach for so many months. Getting to sleep was a real problem for me. I think I'm about to get there again because I'm starting to dread going to bed.

Thankfully this week I have been able to exercise and it's a relief. I can actually breath which is a nice change from the past two weeks. Dan and I skied at a new winter park and I have dubbed it my perfect pregnancy skiing place. Sundance, where we sometimes cross country has a lot of steep hills, trees you can careen into, and if it's icy forget it. This new winter park is much closer to us, about 10 minutes away and has all flat tracks. I didn't feel once like I was going to fall or careen into something. The thought of falling right now is really abhorrent to me so I was glad to find this safe place to ski where you can still get tons of cardio! Skiing really is a great pregnancy exercise and I'll be sad when Winter is over for that reason.

We are going to Bryce National Park this weekend for some cross country skiing. I'm so excited for several reason. First, this is the place that Dan proposed to me and I don't think we've been back since, so it's nostalgic. Second, I desperately desperately need a vacation right now and I think that Dan is about a desperate as I am at this point given that he works 7 days a week now. Lastly, i need the freakin' exercise and i hope I'm able to keep up.

This was actually supposed to be our Valentines weekend trip but we've had to postpone it for the last two weekends, once because I was sick and the second time because we were afraid there was a big snow storm coming and Dan had to work. This weekend there's another dang snowstorm coming but we've decided to go anyway. Supposedly there are ski trails that start right from the hotel, Ruby's Inn, so once we get there, we'll be good. We can just head out to ski. I really hope the trails there are pregnancy friendly. Also as a side note, it SUCKS to ski in maternity pants, just for the record. I'm guessing there's not a whole lot of pregnancy ski wear out there so not much choice.

I'm counting the very hours until March 17th when we find out the sex and get the ultrasound. Dan reminded me this weekend that it's actually mostly to check on the health of the baby, so now of course I'm worried about that too. I hope everything checks out.

I'm actually really looking forward to March in general (although I'm trying to remind myself to enjoy February, every day is a gift!). In March I get my discounted phone upgrade from our provider. I'm really ready to ditch my phone so that will be nice. We will find out the sex of the baby. Novell gets sold in March, so there could be some excitement with that. We hope Dan's job actually improves over what it has been lately. Also, I'm starting my seedlings for the garden on March 15th. That is always a very exciting time. I'm sooo ready to start gardening this year. I can't wait to get the sugar snap peas in the ground and see those baby tomatoes coming up. Then I can dream endlessly about eating fresh peas and tomatoes and long summer days in the yard!
