I went to my first prenatal appointment the other day and it went well. I was hoping we could hear the heartbeat but the doctor couldn't find it. He said he didn't expect to be able to at 11 weeks. Otherwise he said everything looked great.
One strange thing we encountered was that the doctor made Sara hide under the exam table during the exam. I told them that I wasn't that worried about it but after they kept telling her to go play "hide-n-seek" under the table I was mostly just amused by it all. Then they took her out of the room so I could get dressed and gave her some candy. When they sent her back in, she said, "Mom, the doctor was so proud of me for hiding!". I guess modesty is a big issue here in the Valley. As far as I'm concerned though, if it's an issue that is a main part of life, I'm fine with her watching from her seat behind me in the room. She liked hiding though and getting candy so no harm done I guess.
I found out that I have no choice but to have a c-section because I did with Sara. That is OK with me I suppose. At least it's scheduled and I won't have to go through 14 hours of labor first, like last time. I've also been told that the recovery is faster with the second c-section but I don't know if that's true. I'm a major pain wimp so I will probably still complain plenty.
My next appt is Feb 10th and Dan will be able to go to this one (he was out of town last time). Hopefully we'll hear the heartbeat on that one. Also I'm really hoping at that appointment they schedule me for my mid-term ultrasound and that the wait is short. I remember it taking several weeks to get in for it last time. I'll be dying to find out the sex if I have to wait very much longer, I have a definite need to know!!
I'm feeling so thankful that we get to have this experience again and that our family will grow. I also feel nervous about having a new baby again but mostly just excited and hoping the months go by quickly.

Glad it went well. That is funny how the doctor acted about Sara being in there.
