For our three year wedding Anniversary we really pulled out all the stops. When we got married on the beach in Cannon Beach Oregon, we talked about bringing Sara back there someday. We decided this year that she was old enough to enjoy the beach and we really wanted to head back there as well for nostalgia.
Luckily Mom was able to fly out for a visit and we all set off on a very long road trip. It's about 14 hours to Cannon Beach via car from Spanish Fork where we live. Being trapped in the car with a 2 year old that long is
probably not usually preferable but we have an unusually good 2 year old and a very talented
Nanna who is good at entertaining.
On the way to Oregon we drove by the scenic Columbia River and marveled at the wind turbines along the way. I estimate there were more than 100 turbines all along the way. The winds of change are blowing in Oregon!

We made two stops on the drive out. One in Baker City, Or and one in Portland. Baker City is an great "old
timey" little town and we'd love to go back there someday. Dan and I even joked about moving there. They had a great little pub called "Barley Brown" with home brew that Dan really loved, particularly one called "hot
blonde" with jalapeno peppers in it. Sara was into the french fries there. We stopped in Portland to go to Voodoo Donuts, which I will describe later, only to discover there was a line to get in to the donut shop that went around the block. We skipped it and ate at "The Republic" after a local steered us there. It was a fantastic little Chinese place that had been open since the 1920's. Then, we headed for the beach.
Upon arrival at Cannon Beach we didn't even unpack, we
immediately hit the beach. We noticed in short order that Cannon Beach comes complete with beach bunnies, much to the delight of Sara.

Even just playing on the lawn by the beach was really fun for us. What a view!

Mom and Dan enjoy the view, our little beach cabin in the background.
Sunset the first night.

Munkey and her
Nanna had a really fun time on the beach! I love this pic of the two of them.

Also Mom really loved the flowers at Cannon Beach, they were incredible!

REally, bunnies on the beach? Looks like fun.
The bunnies were so cool! They were tame and would come right up to you. I think that was Munkey's favorite part of the trip!
