This was my birthday weekend and even though I was busy pigging out and enjoying the progression of my age I was thinking the whole weekend about this. We are all dying from the moment we are born, it is a steady process. You hear about this or that food or chemical that might be killing us, yes it's true, yes they are. Everything is killing us. You can not escape the dying. So to lighten up things a bit my Dad introduced me to this article and it has really intrigued me. It is perhaps the number one thing that is killing me. Here is a link to the article. Yes, your office chair may be killing you. My office chair is our sofa and I do believe now that it is the Reaper even though cleverly marketed as Lazy Boy.
After reading this article I decided it was time to have a new motto and that is "butt in the air and not in the chair". I'm totally one of those people that is a sitter, I sit in all situations when given the chance. Sitting is comforting just like certain foods are comforting. So this week after reading that article I've been ejecting myself from the couch and thinking of extra ways to walk around or stand. Like literally putting my butt in the air once an hour doing downward dog and some other Yoga, and trying to walk and ride my bike with Munkey once a day. When I sit, I'm going to try to sit on the floor more because there is no scientific evidence as yet that the floor kills you.
The other thing I observed this weekend is the way my parents eat. They eat with what I could call the "Kiss" method or Keep It Simple Stupid. I need to eat more simply. I've been trying to keep rice around, Munkey eats it a lot too and it's a simple food. Also lots of vegetables are a must. I was reminded by something that Dan did when he was losing weight, eating a cup of vegetables with every meal. It can't hurt.
Lastly, doing Camel pose in yoga is supposed to open the solar plexus, the area of the body that controls cravings, so I have been doing Camel a few times a day. It can't hurt and hopefully it won't make me retain water.
So the good news is the scale tells me I've kept off 12 lbs that I lost. The bad news is I haven't lost any more. I'm hoping that keeping my butt in the air, Kissing, and doing Camel and down dog can add up in small amounts to help me eek down some more pounds. It could be these are small things that add up.

Good for you on keeping that 12 off. That is big- I would love to lose 12 lbs. (actually I would love to lose 20 or 30, but I'd be very happy with 12) Sorry we missed your birthday. Hope it was a good one.
