keeping the blogs rolling

I have been really trying to work in the yard a lot and fix some of the major problems we have had with it. The main problem being that we have monster weeds because our sprinklers don't work that well so the grass dies and the weeds take over. Also we think grass is the worst weed of them all and wish we could just get rid of it. Mostly because we live in a desert so we wish we had more desert type landscape, we hate mowing it, and it gets in the garden. Until that day, we are turning the yard into a rock haven, piecemeal.

I decided last year to lay down weed cloth everywhere I could to suppress the weeds and grass. I laid down the cloth in all the flower beds and under the Aspen trees and then I ran out the yard budget so I waited until just a few weeks ago to get the rocks and mulch and finish it up. I still need several more bags of rocks but here is the result. I dare the weeds to get through the cloth and the rocks.

Here are some pics of all the spring Daffodils that came up. Munkey likes to point to them and she says Daffodil but then she says they look like corn.

Today I also re-did the area by our front faucet. I put in some volcanic rock and sand and some cool stony crop plants. It definitely looks better than before.

More to come I hope.
