I'm pretty sure at this point I can say I'm officially cured of Asthma. I have not used any Asthma meds since shortly after arriving in Utah and it will be four years now coming up in June. I totally attribute it to moving to Utah and away from the mold that grows everywhere in the South. I have since had 2 short exposures to mold and both sent me back into a spiral of suffocation.
As a child, and I'm sure my Mom will attest to this, I was on every Asthma med you can think of at one time or another. I did allergy tests, shots, inhalers, pills, even the pills that spike you on a caffeine like substance and make you shake all day. It was the only way I could breath and even at that, I only barely breathed with all that medicine. When I got sick with anything, even a simple cold it was a huge ordeal. I had a few hospital visits and some scary moments that I thought I was going to die, especially when I got double pneumonia when I was 19. I missed over a month of high school my senior year due to Asthma related illnesses but was still able to graduate with an advanced academic degree, which still amazes me.
It's hard to describe how it feels to be able to breath and sleep and not be on loads medication that is just barley working. It's like having a whole new life. I know that I can never live in the South again and if I ever am in a place with mold, I just have to leave.
