We actually did not travel for Christmas this year. Instead we had a great get together with family at L&L's house. It was really great to just be with family this year. Munkey wore a cute dress that her Nanna smocked for me when I was a kid.
I've done two new things in January. One is I joined Gold's Gym again and I got a personal trainer. I had no idea that I had missed the Gym but I've had so much fun with my membership. The worst part is actually getting the membership because you feel like you're talking to car salesmen and getting ripped off. I hate that the Spanish Fork gym is not open on Sunday, we should get a rate cut for losing that day. Also the facility is smaller and older than the other Gold's facilities and it does not have a pool.
I decided to try getting a trainer this year. I wanted one when I joined 3 years ago when I moved to Utah but put it off and never did it. I really need some structure working out. I generally have the motivation and drive to push myself just not the structure or maybe the know how. I've got a great trainer that I'm really happy with and the sessions are fun and productive. Also, after you've paid for a trainer the gym the gym membership fee seems really a bargain. I guess another thing about the money is is really motivates me to get to the gym so I am actually glad that I'm paying for the whole thing out of my money.
The second thing I have done this year was try to work on having friends and joining groups. I had some great friends and was in some amazing groups in Alabama that were very important to me. I really miss having that. I still have a long way to go here but I decided to join a local environmental group here. It's called Utah Valley Earth Forum. I went to their first meeting in January and was hooked. I got to talking with the head of the club and it turns out he lives in Spanish Fork right down the street from us. He's pretty cool, this is his website. Also I've met tons of other cool people in the community. I've really enjoyed being around politically liberal people that care about the environment and have some of the same values and passions that I do. Tomorrow I'm leading my first snowshoe as the outings coordinator and I'm really excited although I'm not sure anyone is really going to show up. Dan said he'd go to support me and Munkey will be there too :)
I guess one last bit of news so far this year is that I started two new blogs. One for environmental topics I was interested in and one for spiritual. I have not done so well keeping up with the environmental one although I've got tons of stuff I'd like to blog about, just no time. I have kept up with the spiritual one somewhat. My constant passion and hobby is reading books of a spiritual/metaphysical nature so it is a way to blog about what I'm reading currently too. It's really more of a spiritual journal for me and a way to keep in mind things I've read that are the most important to me.
