When I first let the bird out of its box this morning it flew about a foot off the ground around the garage, then it came running up to me begging for food. It won't be but a few days and it will be ready to be let go.

Worm hunting in the rain
This morning after feeding the Munkey I went out into the yard to hunt worms for the bird. At 7 a.m. in the rain and wind. As my neighbor left for work, he spotted me digging through the dirt. I'm sure he thought I was crazy. I was having trouble finding worms but then I had an idea. When it rains worms always come out on the road and sidewalk, sure enough, worms for the pickin' were out. I even got a big foot long night crawler.

What does Sara think about it?
Wonder where it had come from? And amazing that the neighborhood cats had not gotten it.
Does this look like a Mocking Bird to anyone?
MG-Kepi thinks it's a Starling! Cool.
Interesting that this might be a Starling and MG-Kepi says Starlings lay their eggs in anyone's nest. Dan was giving me a hard time about taking the bird because its parents might be looking for it. However after he saw how ravenously it took the worms he said maybe that's why it was abandoned, the parents couldn't keep up with its demands. Maybe if it was a smaller bird that's what happened, it was abandoned for someone who could get up at 7 a.m. and find a million worms for it to eat. Also they are Omnivores, eating insects and fruit, as Eimrek reminded me so I am supplementing the worms with quartered raisins and tiny bits of apple. It's going well.
Amazing! And thank goodness for tweezers, or you'd probably be minus a couple of fingers.
